Before the arrival of Angela Gossow, the group was led by a male singer. It was Angela Gossow (singer from 2000 to 2014) who passed the mic to Alissa to become the manager of Arch Enemy. Angela Gossow was one of the first and most influential female death metal singers. Alissa and Angela are both vegan.

Alissa White-Gluz was the singer for The Agonist from 2004 to 2014 and live singer for the band Kamelot from 2011 to 2018. She was the frontwoman of Arch Enemy from 2014 to 2025. The band is still active.
