The group Astarte claims to be “The first all-female black metal band in official black metal Discography”. Tristessa† started out as a bassist in Lloth, which would become Astarte. Kinthia, who also played guitar and keyboard, sang from 1997 to 2003. Tristessa† was a singer from 2003 until her death in 2014 due to complications from leukemia. Her husband took over the original name of the group (Lloth) and took over the leadership of the group to pay tribute to her. Tristessa † also played guitar in the group Vorphalack from 1995 to 1998.
