Initially, The Armed was an anonymous artistic collective that deliberately obscured the identities of its members and hired actors for promotional photos. The group emerged from anonymity with the release of "Ultrapop."

Meghan O'Neil sings on the album "The Future Is Here and Everything Needs to Be Destroyed," released in 2025.

She should not be confused with Cara Drolshagen, who has also been singing with the group since 2015 (sometimes backing vocals and occasionally lead vocals). Her voice can be heard on the recordings of "Untitled," "Only Love," "Ultrapop," and "Perfect Saviors."
