Initially, The Armed was an anonymous artistic collective that deliberately obscured the identities of its members and hired actors for promotional photos. The group emerged from anonymity with the release of "Ultrapop."

Cara Drolshagen has been singing (sometimes backing vocals and occasionally lead vocals) with the group since 2015. Her voice can be heard on "Untitled," "Only Love," "Ultrapop," and "Perfect Saviors."
